Catherine Dean Leigh

Catherine Dean Leigh, 79, of Troy died on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at The Cedars of Charlottesville. She was born on January 18, 1933 in Elkton, VA to the late Walter and Mary Crawford Dean.

Mrs. Leigh enjoyed listening to bluegrass music and she loved the outdoors whether it was sitting in a chair looking at the birds or going to the park. Most of all she was a family woman who loved her children and cherished her grandchildren. Her loving nature will always be remembered.

She is survived by her two daughters, Sandra D. Leigh and Lori A. Leigh both of Charlottesville and two sisters, Mary Dean of Stanardsville and Doris Dean of Elkton.

Additional survivors include her six grandchildren, James Grooms and his wife, Misty, John Grooms, Jennifer Leigh, Michael Ryder, Anthony Ryder, and Kristi Ryder and five great grandchildren, Tyler Grooms, Trevor Grooms, Trezayah Allen, Jasmine Leigh and Olivia Grooms.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Leigh and three brothers, Jim Dean, Walter Harold Dean and Marvin O. Dean.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 4, 2012 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail Ruckersville, VA 22968.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Middle River Cemetery with Pastor Jeffrey Schroder officiating.

Pallbearers will be Bill Kingrea, Maurice Bowles, James Morris, John Morris, Luke Beckimon, and Michael Ryder.
